چکیده

The CLEO Collaboration has observed the first hadronic transition among bottomonium (bb̄) states other than the dipion transitions among vector states, Υ(nS)→ππΥ(mS). In our study of Υ(3S) decays, we find a significant signal for Υ(3S)→γωΥ(1S) that is consistent with radiative decays Υ(3S)→γχb1,2(2P ), followed by χb1,2(2P )→ωΥ(1S). The branching ratios we obtain are B(χb1(2P )→ωΥ(1S)) = 1.63 +0.35 −0.31 +0.16 −0.15% and B(χb2(2P )→ωΥ(1S)) = 1.10 +0.32 −0.28 +0.11 −0.10%, in which the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. ∗Submitted to XXI International Symposium on Lepton and Photon Interactions at High Energies, August 11-16, 2003, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Batavia, IL

CLEO Results on Upsilons a

I present highlights of recent CLEO studies on the Υ(1S), Υ(2S), and Υ(3S). The preliminary results presented here include the first observation of a hadronic cascade in the Υ system not involving pions, Υ(3S) → γχ b1,2 (2P) followed by χ b1,2 (2P) → ωΥ(1S). I also present preliminary results on a search for inclusive ψ production in Υ(1S) decays. I end with a search for nine different two body...

Is Υ ( 3 S ) a pure S − wave ?

Assuming the QCD multipole expansion is applicable to hadronic transitions of Υ(3S) into lower level bottomonia, we consider the possibility that Υ(3S) has a D−wave component. This assumption leads to a natural explanation of the ππ spectrum in Υ(3S) → Υ(1S) ππ. Consequences of this assumption on other hadronic and radiative transitions of Υ(3S) are also discussed in the same context. PACS numb...

The Υ(5S) was discovered about 20 years ago in ee collisions at CLEO [1] and CUSB [2]. Its mass is (10865 ± 8) MeV, about 300 MeV higher than the Υ(4S) resonance, and its width of (110± 13) MeV is about five times larger than the Υ(4S) resonance. Its production cross-section was measured to be about 0.3 nb, about ten times lower than the Υ(4S) cross-section. Owing to its mass, the Υ(5S) can dec...

Lemme — — — - Weak vector and scalar potentials . Applications to Poincaré ’ s theorem and Korn ’ s inequality in Sobolev spaces with negative exponents .

In this paper, we present several results concerning vector potentials and scalar potentials with data in Sobolev spaces with negative exponents, in a not necessarily simply-connected, three-dimensional domain. We then apply these results to Poincaré’s theorem and to Korn’s inequality. 1 Weak versions of a classical theorem of Poincaré In this work, (the results of which were announced in [2]),...
